Postal Service for the Dead (PSD) is an ongoing, collective project where people send letters to anyone in their life who has died. Founded in December of 2022, PSD has uplifted the voices of hundreds of people by creating physical and digital platforms for their stories of loss and death.

Postal Service for the Dead is a letter-writing project and community archive inviting connection through grief.

Vision

Postal Service for the Dead envisions a world where the stigma of death, grief, and loss is disrupted through collective healing. 

Approach

Postal Service for the Dead welcomes participants to contribute to our community archive by sending letters to anyone in their life who has died. We take a multifaceted approach by hosting workshops, lectures, and a variety of programs that teach people about grief, death literacy, and healthy coping skills.

Depending on the privacy permissions indicated by the symbol we open, read, and share the letters. Our team digitizes, catalogs, and preserves each  letter in archival grade boxes.
